White Shoots 79 for Chargers at Kewanee Dunes Classic

Freshman Trace White (Mount Pleasant, Iowa/Mount Pleasant) shot an even-par 36 on the front and finished with a 7-over 79 to lead the Carl Sandburg College men’s golf team in the Kewanee Dunes Classic on Friday.
Sandburg finished fifth with a 326 total. Black Hawk shot 297 to win the team title by five strokes over DuPage.
The Chargers’ total was rounded out by Kevin Greene (El Paso, Ill./El Paso-Gridley) with an 80, Grant Campbell (Earlville, Ill./Earlville) with an 83 and Grant Otting (Taylor Ridge, Ill./Rockridge) with an 84. Cooper Beck (Petersburg, Ill./PORTA) added an 85 for the Chargers.
Competing as individuals, Matt Graves (Oneida, Ill./ROWVA) shot a 91, while Tanner Blum (Elmwood, Ill./Elmwood) and Brice Margenthaler (Cape Girardeau, Mo./Central) each posted a 93.
Jack Vercautren of DuPage was medalist with a 5-under 67.

The Chargers compete in the Duane Chanay Invite at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Byron Hills in Port Byron.
